Custom Orthotics

Custom orthotics are an essential tool in the conservative management of foot and ankle disorders. The devices are custom made from a mold of your foot so that they fit you and no one else. The orthotics will match the contour of your feet exactly and are designed for the way your feet move.

We use orthotics to treat foot disorders such as; plantar fasciitis, bursitis, capsulitis, tendonitis, bunion pain, pain in the ball of the foot, heel pain, and ankle pain. Orthotics reduce stress on the arch, can off load pressure points and alter function of tendons and ligaments to improve foot function. Orthotics can also reduce stress on the knee, hip and lower back.

We often use orthotics to help avoid or delay surgical intervention. They are also beneficial post-operatively in maintaining surgical correction.

Custom orthotics are divided into two categories; functional and accommodative. A functional orthotic is designed to control abnormal motion of the foot, whereas, an accommodative orthotic is designed to relieve pressure from an area. Orthotics come in a variety of sizes and designs. The orthotics that we fabricate for you will depend the devices purpose, your weight and what type of shoe you wear most often.

Because orthotics can be used to conservatively treat a variety of foot and ankle problems many insurance companies now provide coverage for them.

Testimonials

I suffered with chronic heel pain for over a year. I finally went to see Dr. Fritz who examined me and performed X-rays on the same visit. He diagnosed me with plantar fasciitis. After a course of physical therapy, a cortisone shot and a pair of custom orthotics I’m able to walk pain free again.
